Aubrie is an abstract and illustrative artist living in Asheville, NC. She studied Art Therapy at Warren Wilson College. Artist Statement:
I paint as I wish to live- with reckless abandon. I dive into painting with no plan, just ink thrown across the paper. I look to the unpredictable ink for guidance on where to go next. This is a dance of control and fate. I spend most of my time staring at the page- seeing what is and what could be. Each mark builds upon the other with calculated carelessness. I paint to let go of the fear of mistakes. The more mistakes that are made merely adds to the richness of textures and layers of history.
I do not paint with a concept in mind, I paint as a practice of self discovery. Whatever is present- joy, sadness, fear, curiosity- all will make themselves known on the canvas through color, mark making, and the physical shape of the paper.
